News hit last week that another beloved venue in Northern Virginia wouldn’t be opening its doors this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But although the Hylton Performing Arts Center won’t be welcoming guests in person for the remainder of the 2020 season, it’s still finding ways to connect with the community through virtual events.

One of the most notable to be held this summer is the arts center’s 10th anniversary celebration. Set for Saturday, July 18 at 6:30 p.m., the online event will feature exclusive, live performances, a “Raise Your Paddle” fundraiser and even home-delivered, catered meals by Susan Gage Caterers, complete with a bottle of wine.

The 10th anniversary event will serve as the Hylton’s annual fundraiser (replacing the in-person 10th Anniversary Gala originally planned for April 18), and the money raised will support artistic performances, arts education programs, outreach initiatives and the Hylton Center’s Endowment.

The evening’s special performances will feature husband-and-wife duo, and original members of The 5th Dimension, Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr., as well as George Mason University’s Director of Jazz Studies and Jazz Voice Darden Purcell.

A limited number of tickets are available, and full-access tickets cost $300, which include home-delivered wine and meals. A view-only ticket costs $50 and includes access to the live broadcast.
