These Are the Biggest and Brightest Fourth of July Fireworks Displays in NoVA

From Arlington to Prince William County, there’s a nearby location for everyone to enjoy the bursts and booms of a nationwide celebration.

Updated June 22, 2022. It’s once again time to light up the night sky. And after a pandemic hiatus, you simply can’t miss the patriotic celebrations in NoVA this year.

National Fireworks

Catch the capital’s National Mall fireworks display without having to go into the crowded city. Fireworks will be held on July 4, beginning at an approximated time of 9:09 p.m. If you’re looking to catch the sparks without heading into DC, make your way to Arlington’s Long Bridge Park, the Air Force Memorial, Gateway Park in Rosslyn, Gravelly Point, the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial, Key Bridge, the Pentagon Reservation, or Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall for the best views.

USA/Alexandria Birthday Celebration

The city plans to celebrate its own 273rd birthday bash a week after the nation’s 246th, giving residents the chance to enjoy fireworks elsewhere on the Fourth of July. Alexandria’s party will be held on July 9, and fireworks will begin around 9:30 p.m. at Oronoco Bay Park. 100 Madison St., Alexandria

A Hometown Celebration

The city of Fairfax is celebrating Independence Day with a grand finale of fireworks and live music on July 5, with the fireworks display kicking off at 9:30 p.m. Fairfax High School: 3501 Rebel Run, Fairfax

Fourth of July Celebration

Run the city’s 5K in the morning and then rest up for the late-night fireworks show. Gates at Turner Farm Park open at 6 p.m., and the fireworks will begin at dusk on July 4. 925 Springvale Rd., Great Falls

Independence Day Celebration

Family fun at a familiar location, featuring food trucks, live music, and a place to hang out while getting a good seat for the fireworks is happening July 2 at Langley High School. Gates open at 6:30 p.m and fireworks begin at 9:15 p.m. 6520 Georgetown Pike, McLean

Warrenton Fireworks

Kid-friendly activities, local vendors, and armed forces demonstrations will precede the town’s firework display from across Route 211 on July 1. Make sure you have the perfect spot staked out by 9:25 p.m., which is when the display kicks. Warrenton Aquatic and Recreation Facility: 800 Waterloo Rd., Warrenton

Great Meadow 4th of July 2022

A Polo exhibitions, sack races, and festive competitions are just a few of the activities before the fireworks fly in The Plains on July 4 at dusk. The Great Meadow Foundation: 5089 Old Tavern Rd., The Plains; starting at $44.23

Leesburg Independence Day Celebration

Gates open at 6 p.m. and live music for the holiday celebration will start at 6:30 p.m. at Ida Lee Park on the Fourth. Guests are encouraged to come early and hungry; a full food court of classic summer eats, including funnel cakes, ice cream, burgers, hot dogs, and more, will be on site, and fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m. Ida Lee Park: 50 Ida Lee Dr., Leesburg

Celebrate America

As if you don’t have enough entertainment with the bike decorating contest and watermelon eating contest, bring your chairs to get the best seats of the night at the fireworks show, which will begin at 9:15 p.m. at Manassas Museum’s lawn. Manassas Museum: 9101 Prince William St., Manassas

Celebrate with the Fredericksburg Nationals

Baseball, food, fireworks, and fun … what more does a holiday celebration need? Join the Nats as they take on the Lynchburg Hillcats then catch the fireworks show from the comfort of your car. Virginia Credit Union Stadium: 42 Jackie Robinson Way, Fredericksburg; Ticket prices vary
