The Screaming Eagle is back! Washington Capitals fans will be happy to see the return of the Screaming Eagle as the team announced a new third jersey design for the upcoming season.
The Screaming Eagle jersey will be worn during 15 home games throughout the 2025–26 season. It will also serve as the team’s third jersey design over the next three seasons.

The new uniform will honor multiple decades of the team’s history from the 1970s to its present era. The white rounded shoulder yoke and hem striping represent the jerseys of the teams of the ’70s and ’80s. The Capitol dome shoulder patches and screaming eagle logo are reminiscent of the uniforms from the late ’90s and early 2000s.
On Monday, September 15, fans will be able to find special activations across the DC celebrating the new release. The team’s Ice SCREAMMMM Truck will make special stops around the National Mall, Capital One Arena (from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.), and Nationals Park (from 5 to 7 p.m.).
While at Nats Park, Capitals forward Dylan Strome will be serving Capitals-themed ice cream from 5:30 to 5:45 p.m. before heading inside to throw out the first pitch before the Nationals take on the Atlanta Braves. Those heading inside the stadium for the game will catch the baseball team in Screaming Eagle T-shirts during the pre-game warmup.
The Smithsonian National Zoo is getting in on the fun, too. Visitors to the Bird House will be able to snap a photo with the bald eagle statue dawning the new design.
The third jersey will make its season debut on Friday, October 17, when the Caps take on the Minnesota Wild. New Screaming Eagle merchandise will also be available online at the MedStar Capitals Iceplex, Capital One Arena Team Store, and NHL Shop in New York City starting October 17.
The team will also be giving away various promotional items with the screaming eagle design throughout the season. This includes a jersey rally towel on October 17, travel bag on November 24, and Dylan Strome Bobblehead on January 13.
