Ashburn Giant Food to Close at End of January

There’s no word yet on what will replace the store at the Shoppes at Ryan Park.

Loyal shoppers of the Giant Food near Ashburn Village will need to find a new spot for their grocery store visits. The Giant location on 43670 Greenway Corporate Dr. in Ashburn will close its doors by the end of the month.

A statement from Giant Food disclosed that the Ashburn store will close on January 30.

“In the normal course of evaluating our business and local trade areas, we determined that we can adequately serve this community through several other nearby Giant Food locations as well as our online services Giant Pickup and delivery,” the company’s statement said. “While closing this location, we remain committed to meeting the needs of our customers and providing them the best service.”

Giant Food operates two other locations in Ashburn, at 43330 Junction Plz. and 44110 Ashburn Shopping Plz.

Customers of the store’s pharmacy will be notified of which nearby Giant store their prescriptions will be transferred to. Both of the other locations in Ashburn have a pharmacy. Customers will also have the option to transfer to a different Giant location with a pharmacy.

“We want to express our sincere gratitude to the Ashburn community for their support over the 19 years that Giant Food has been a part of this neighborhood. We look forward to welcoming our shoppers at our other local Giant Food locations,” the company said.

The shopping center, Shoppes at Ryan Park, has yet to announce what may take over the soon-to-be empty 65,000-square-foot space.
