Initially, the Prince William County Fire Marshal’s Office said an electrical malfunction in a hybrid vehicle started a fire that destroyed eight vehicles at a Woodbridge apartment complex. Now, the office has changed its assessment.
“After further analysis and investigation the cause of the fire has been changed to undetermined,” the fire marshal’s office said about the Wednesday fire.
Firefighters responded to the blaze at the Summerland Heights apartment complex at 3:43 a.m. Wednesday. The complex on Cridercrest Place is off the Prince William Parkway before Horner Road.
When crews arrived, they found a row of parked cars and trucks on fire.
They quickly put out the blaze. The fire marshal said it spread because of leaking gasoline.
In total, the fire destroyed eight vehicles and damaged another three. Nobody was hurt.
