Two Northern Virginia musicians — Shaboozey and Tommy Richmond — are on top of Billboard’s music charts.
Shaboozey hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 song chart and No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart with his smash hit, “A Bar Song (Tipsy).”
The song by the 29-year-old Woodbridge native has been on the charts for 12 weeks, and was at No. 2 last week.
Shaboozey is the first Black man to top both charts, according to Billboard. Beyoncé is the only other Black artist to do so.
Earlier this year, Shaboozey, who plays the 9:30 Club on September 21 and 23, made the charts with “Spaghettii” (with Linda Martell) and “Sweet * Honey * Buckiin’.” They ranked No. 31 and No. 61, respectively.
Another Woodbridge native, Tommy Richman, has been on the Billboard charts, too. His “Million Dollar Baby” has spent nine weeks on the TikTok Billboard Top 50 chart. It’s been No. 1 for the last eight weeks and the charts for nine weeks.
It debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 2 and 10 weeks later is at No. 5.
Richman’s other song, “Devil is a Lie,” is at No. 50 on the TikTok Billboard Top 50 and at No. 32 after just three weeks on Billboard Hot 100. It started at No. 35.
Billboard ranks the most popular songs in the U.S. every week, according to sales, how often they are played on the radio, and how often they are streamed. Rankings are typically released on Tuesdays.
