A Fairfax County student is a finalist in the “Doodle for Google” contest.
In this year’s contest theme, inspired by Google’s 25th birthday, the artwork from students needed to represent their wish for the next 25 years.
Arya Pribadi attends Greenbriar West Elementary School in Chantilly. Her “No Sickness Doodle” in the kindergarten through third grade category shows a family celebrating the COVID-19 vaccine.
“My wish for the next 25 years is that nobody gets sick and that there are vaccines for every sickness there is. To represent that, I drew a shot with 2 germs with 4 family members saying how happy they are that me, my family, and everyone doesn’t get sick,” Pribadi wrote.
Google received tens of thousands of submissions in its 16th annual creativity contest. It picks finalists from every state, Puerto Rico, U.S. territories, DC, and U.S. military bases. Pribadi, Virginia’s winner, is one of 55 finalists competing to have Google display her Doodle for 24 hours in June and a $55,000 college scholarship. The winner also gets a $50,000 technology package for their school or nonprofit, Google swag, an individual trophy, and a school trophy.
“Given the challenging nature of the past few years, we were really inspired to see the many ways students have been facing the opportunities and challenges that the future brings,” Selly Sallah, Doodle product marketing manager, said in a news release.
You can vote for Pribadi’s Doodle until June 4. Google announces the winner in June.
