A Lorton man who brought a woman who had been shot to Inova Mount Vernon Hospital has been charged with her murder, Fairfax County police said.
Huy Tien Nguyen, 47, faces charges of second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in the deadly shooting of his girlfriend, Alison “Kate” LaPorta, 38, of Lorton.
Fairfax County police said Nguyen brought LaPorta to the hospital at 11:35 p.m. Wednesday. She was then taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
Nguyen told officers the shooting happened in a parking lot, but detectives determined the shooting occurred inside the red Jeep he drove LaPorta to the hospital in.
Police said the gun used was found near Nguyen’s Lorton home.
Nguyen is being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
