On March 16, the Virginia Department of Health announced that Arlington’s number of cases nearly doubled, now nine, up from five reported on Friday. “Arlington was third among Virginia jurisdictions in terms of coronavirus cases, with Fairfax and James counties each reporting 10 cases.” (ARLNow)

All masses in Arlington have now been suspended by Bishop Michael F. Burbidge of the Diocese of Arlington. This move came after President Trump’s suggestion to limit all social gatherings of more than 10 people. (Inside NoVA)

The coronavirus (COVID-19) has now claimed its second life in Virginia, a man in his 70s in the Peninsula Health District. The source of his infection was unknown. The commonwealth now has 51 confirmed cases. (CBS19)

On March 16, President Trump and the White House’s coronavirus task force announced that social gatherings with more than 10 people should be limited. The number of U.S. cases has surpassed 4,000. As of the afternoon press conference, the president does not currently plan to implement a national quarantine. (Axios)

Starting on Tuesday, March 17, all Dollar General locations will dedicate the first hour of every shopping day to senior customers only. The company is hoping to offer customers who are concerned about going into public spaces the opportunity to shop, avoid crowds and get their necessities. (Inside NoVA)
