Ashley Green, fourth-grader at Pinebrook Elementary School and Loudoun County resident, was named Virginia’s winner for the “Doodle for Google” art contest. United Airlines announced its first nonstop flight route between Dulles International Airport and Tel Aviv, Israel. It is the only airline from Washington, DC to offer nonstop, year-round services between the two cities. The flights will depart Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. (Loudoun Now)

Vienna Town Council and Vienna Planning Commission have decided to bring in a mediator to see if a compromise on the mixed-use rezoning application at 374-380 Maple Avenue West. Some residents oppose the project due to the potential building’s height and density. Up for debate is the possibility of 37 condominiums on top of 7,500 square feet of retail space. (Inside NoVA)

Michael Wardian of Arlington will take his world record-holding running career to Wales to compete against 60 horses in the Man Versus Horse Marathon. He has finished the Boston Marathon 18 times, ran 631 miles across Israel in just 10 days and holds the world record for fastest 50-kilometer run on a treadmill. (The Washington Post)
