Interested in working out regularly without making a commitment? Mary Washington offers group exercise classes at multiple locations most days of the week, but no membership fee is required. Clients can choose the class they’re interested in and pay per class or buy a punch card for a slightly lower fee per class. These classes, which range from Zumba and boot camp to yoga and running, meet regularly and offer something for every level of fitness.

Along with fitness classes, Mary Washington also recently partnered with the Rappahannock Area YMCA to create the Y-Change program, an eight-week lifestyle change program for preventing Type 2 diabetes. This program is open to the public (but requires a physician referral) and includes education on nutrition and exercise for the prevention of Type 2 diabetes. Mary Washington Healthcare marketing specialist Emily Thurston notes that this is of utmost importance because 1 in 3 adults in the U.S. has prediabetes, and 15 to 30 percent of those will develop Type 2 diabetes within five years.
