Think of your average Pilates class. Now intensify that and imagine your body shaking uncontrollably the entire time. That’s [solidcore], an intensified Pilates fitness brand.
The gym is opening its sixth Northern Virginia studio on March 9, in Reston. Current locations include Ashburn, Ballston, Mosaic District, Old Town Alexandria and Tysons Corner.
The Reston studio is offering a pre-opening special through March 8, which includes 10-class packages for $199 each. The packages expire 90 days after the studio opening date.
Classes are high-intensity, low-impact sessions consisting of resistance-based exercises—all done in a 50-minute time frame. The slow and controlled movements are meant to work participants’ slow- and fast-twitch muscles to the point of failure.
Moves include a variety of planks, lunges and squats on a machine called [sweatlana].
There is a maximum of 15 machines in most studios, creating a personalized space to give coaches the ability to focus on each student. Private sessions are also available. // [solidcore] Reston: 12100 Sunset Hills Blvd., Reston; $18-$250
