Come hungry when you visit Mosaic’s newest restaurant, Junction Bistro, Bar & Bakery. The drive-in-movie-themed bistro opened November 1, with elaborate murals covering walls, depicting characters from blockbusters like Jaws and Pulp Fiction. Diners are greeted warmly and brought freshly popped popcorn as an amuse bouche for the table.
Starters include an array of intriguing soups, salads and chili. French onion soup comes in an ivory tureen, full of caramelized onions, with classic sourdough croutons and gruyere enhancing the dish. Order the warm Brussels salad for the table; the sizable option arrives with colorful sumac onion, olive oil, lemon, mint, in a bed of spiced labneh sauce. Sandwiches are massive, flavorful, and special. The hot chicken delivers a tasty fried chicken breast, tangy angry honey, Louisville fire sauce, dill pickle slices on a home-baked cheddar chive biscuit. Each element alone is terrific; together they harmonize beautifully. Consider the eclectic main dishes, including pesto pasta, roasted chicken, oven roasted salmon, or tofu stir fry. The bourguignon-braised short rib pot roast is tender, juicy, and a perfect fall meal.
For home-made dessert, we chose lemon cake and salted caramel cheesecake. Hands down the cheesecake was our favorite, but both are indulgent options.
