Alexandria
BARCA Pier & Wine Bar
BARCA Pier & Wine Bar, located on a commercial shipping pier at Old Town Alexandria’s waterfront, just reopened after a renovation. It celebrates its two-year anniversary on Monday, March 6, with all day happy hour specials. Its tapas selections include chickpea hummus; crispy potatoes with mojo rojo and, lemon-garlic aioli, and marinated olives. 2 Pioneer Mill Wy., Alexandria
Linjee Thai
Sam and Samantha Thana, owners of this new Alexandria restaurant, blend traditional Thai flavors with a creative twist. Linjee Thai serves curries, stir-fry noodles, and has a number of house specialties, including Goong Pu Pattaya (prawn shrimp, minced chicken, and crab meat with steamed broccoli in a sweet and sour sauce) and Phuket Paradise (lobster tail with bell peppers, onions, and basil in a chili garlic sauce). Shah’s Halal Food
Shah’s in Alexandria offers gyros of chicken or lamb, kofta kebabs, cheesesteak sandwiches, and burgers. Its freshly prepared cuisine uses 100 percent authentic halal meat, fresh ingredients, traditional recipes, and homemade sauces. 8256-B Richmond Hwy., Alexandria
Z Burger
This popular local franchise opened in mid-February in Alexandria. It offers ground beef and black bean burgers, kosher hot dogs, housemade fries, and an array of milkshakes. 684 S. Pickett St., Alexandria
Arlington
Sabores Tapas Bar
Sabores Tapas Bar promises an “authentic culinary experiences in a fun-filled atmosphere with Spanish-Latin flavors, music, décor and highest-quality ingredients,” according to its website. Bring a group to experience authentic tapas in this festive restaurant. 2401 Columbia Pk., Arlington
Falls Church
Pho Ga Vang
Recently-opened Pho Ga Vang is family-owned and specializes in homestyle Vietnamese pho that head chef Tony Le was raised on. The menu includes chicken pho, Vietnamese chicken soup with egg noodles, and Vietnamese iced coffee. This location is in Falls Church’s Eden Center. 6767 Wilson Blvd., Falls Church
Fairfax County
Genki Izakaya
Genki Izakaya is a casual restaurant that serves contemporary Japanese cuisine. Similar to a tapas bar, it serves small plates. Its specialties include a spicy cod roe in a creamy sauce with udon; a sashimi-style blue fin tuna foie gras with truffle oil; and a wagyu short rib. 9508 Fairfax Blvd., Fairfax
Jiwa Singapura
Jiwa Singapura in Tysons Galleria offers locals an opportunity to experience Singapore’s diverse flavors and cultural influences. Chef Pepe Moncayo prepares signature dishes, Singaporean street food, and hawker samples. This new spot opened its doors in early February, and diners have been raving about the upscale dining in the heart of Old Town Fairfax. Offering lunch and dinner menus, ONE Bar and Grill has daily happy hours and weekly specials. Southern Style Chicken and Waffle

Yard House
Yard House Tysons Corner opened in Tysons Galleria, and offers new American-style dishes and lots of draft beer, with 130 taps at its full-service bar. Loudoun County
Fountain Grill

Local Provisions
Local Provisions specializes in farm-to-table, scratch cooking, chef-driven, seasonal cuisine. Think soups, salads, and housemade pastas. Entrées made in its wood-burning oven and grill include Faroe Island grilled salmon, locally caught rockfish, and pork chops from Green Hill Farms. Ted’s Bulletin, Ashburn
Another Northern Virginia location for Ted’s Bulletin has opened at One Loudoun — a welcome addition to the area’s multiple dining spots. Discover Ted’s Bulletin’s tasty approach to classic American dishes and cocktails. Spiced apple cider pancakes are served all day, or go for the homestyle meatload for short rib stroganoff to curb your hunger. Hangry Joe’s is expanding, with new locations open in Northern Virginia and more on the way.
