Celebrate High Side’s birthday with a virtual beer bonanza

Six hours of fun include a beer tasting, brewery tour, panel discussion and lots of entertainment.

Beer lover? Your sudsy hobby has probably left you drinking alone more often than you’d like during the pandemic. But to celebrate its third anniversary, High Side in Fairfax is bringing back sipping as a group for six fun-filled hours.

On Feb. 13, brew nerds will converge virtually from noon to 6 p.m. for an event totally devoted to beer. The centerpiece of the event is the High Side anniversary beer box. At $65, it contains a bottle of Don’t Fret, Boba, a collaboration between High Side and Back Bay Brewing Co.’s Farmhouse. The beer is flavored with Earl Grey tea, Taiwanese brown sugar, toasted coconut, Madagascar vanilla bean, Indonesian Vanilla bean, Tahitian Vanilla bean and milk sugar. The box also includes limited edition glassware, a special High Side anniversary roast from Foundation Coffee, scratch-off tickets to win prizes, $20 off at High Side and lots of other swag. A $135.50 VIP box has all that and 12 additional 16-ounce cans of beer. Most importantly, both also grant access to the festivities.

Besides the beer tasting, the event includes meeting brewers for a brewery tour and panel discussion. The brewers from Tabol Brewing, Oozlefinch Beers & Blending, Wheatland Spring Farm + Brewery and Bluejacket will all take part. Alongside beer banter and a virtual bar trivia session, participants will also be entertained with performances by City of Fairfax Theater Company and Dalia Lily. Not enough to get you into the groove? High Side is also promising themed ASMR. And that’s a party at your place that requires minimal clean-up. // 4009 Chain Bridge Rd., Fairfax
