Leesburg’s Downtown Saloon Purchased by Family Behind Tuskies, Magnolias

The biker bar will transform into a traditional Irish pub, set to open this fall.

A longtime downtown Leesburg bar, the Downtown Saloon, is under new ownership. The Malone family, which operates restaurant concepts like Tuscarora Mill and Magnolias at the Mill, has purchased the restaurant. The new owners plan to make it into an Irish pub, Loudoun Now reported.

The Downtown Saloon has been a staple biker bar in Leesburg. Located at 5 and 7 N. King St., it was previously Payne’s Biker Bar before owner Scott Warner purchased it in 2001.

It will continue to operate as-is until the end of the month, according to a Facebook post from the Downtown Saloon.

The new owners — Evan Malone, his wife Meaghan, and his mother Kathleen — plan to convert the bar to an Irish pub, which has not yet been named.

“The project fulfills a dream shared by Evan and his late father, Kevin Malone, who always envisioned opening an authentic Irish pub in the heart of Leesburg. Inspired by their shared love of Ireland, community, and genuine hospitality, the new pub will pay tribute to Kevin’s legacy while creating a welcoming gathering place for locals and visitors alike,” according to a page for the new pub on Magnolia’s website.

The new owners will begin renovating the space over the summer, with plans to reopen to guests in the fall. In addition to Tuskie’s and Magnolias, the family also operates concepts like South Street Under, The Old Brogue, and the upcoming Maggie’s Corner Café.
