Great American Community Kitchen Expands with Closure of Good Eats Emporium

The Sterling restaurant site will be used to expand the Great American Community Kitchen, which provides meals to food-insecure families.

Good Eats Emporium, a Sterling restaurant that billed itself as serving “an eclectic blend of familiar crowd favorites” closed Saturday, according to Fairfax-based Great American Restaurants.

The casual restaurant at 45990 Waterview Plz. opened in 2020 with a menu that included burgers, wings, tacos, and baked goods. It is located just across the parking lot from a Sweetwater Tavern location that’s also owned by Great American Restaurants.

The Good Eats Emporium’s site will continue to be part of Great American Restaurants, which owns a number of restaurants, including Patsy’s, Carlyle, and Coastal Flats.

The restaurant group said its philanthropic partner, Great American Community Kitchen, is “expanding and operating out of this facility preparing free meals to be distributed around the Northern Virginia community.

“Dedicated to elevating its commitment to serving food insecure families, the Great American Community Kitchen is extending its reach to ensure even more individuals experience the warmth of a wholesome meal.”

It operates six days a week and serves 1,250 free meals daily. Since its start in 2020, “the Great American Community Kitchen has proudly served an astonishing 1,714,575 meals,” the company said.
