Jiwa Singapura in Tysons Closes

Jiwa Singapura in Tysons Galleria was the region’s only Singaporean restaurant.

By Colleen Kelleher December 5, 2023 at 5:42 pm

Barcelona-bred chef and restaurateur Pepe Moncayo opened Jiwa Singapura, the region’s only Singaporean restaurant, in Tysons Galleria, back in mid-February. Now, 10 months later, the restaurant has closed.

“With a heavy heart, we are sad to share that Jiwa Singapura will be closing in its current location at Tysons Corner, effective today (Monday, December 4) — but are looking forward to bringing the Singaporean food & culture to another location in the future,” a statement released by the restaurant said.

“We thank our guests and especially our wonderful team who have supported us throughout this journey — and we look forward to seeing what’s going to happen next.”

Jiwa Singapura’s food, which highlighted the flavors of Singapore with a modern flair with entrées in the $26 to $40 range, garnered a four-star rating from our food critic Alice Levitt in August, and it landed on our 50 Best Restaurants list in November.

Moncayo’s other restaurant, Cranes in DC, had a Michelin star but lost it last month.
