The easiest way to support your favorite local restaurants right now? Order takeout or delivery for dinner, and, if you’re craving something from a Fairfax County eatery, look to the new Take Out Trail mobile passport program for help.
Launched on April 2 by Visit Fairfax, the county’s official tourism organization, the Take Out Trail is a free, mobile program that aims to connect residents with over 50 restaurants, coffee shops, breweries and wineries that are currently offering delivery and pickup, as well as special offers, like 20% off meals and 50% off bottles of wine.
Participating businesses include BRX American Bistro, J. Gilbert’s, Caboose Commons, Fair Winds Brewing Co., The Winery at Bull Run and many more.
“During these challenging economic times, it’s more important than ever that we come together as a community to support our local small businesses,” said Barry H. Biggar, president and CEO of Visit Fairfax in a recent press release. “Our hope is that the mobile passport will help residents connect with the merchants they know and love and also inspire them to explore the other world-class restaurants, breweries and wineries our county has to offer.”
To participate, residents can visit the mobile passport landing page to sign up with their name, email address and phone number. A link will be sent to the mobile phone, which opens the passport and directs the user to add the button icon to their home screen.
Through the passport, users can find merchant hours, phone numbers, websites, maps, notices of how orders can be obtained (by either pickup or home delivery) and discounts and coupons.
