More Smithsonian Museums Are Reopening. And Rules for Visiting Continue to Change

It could be hard to understand the Smithsonian Museum schedules before the pandemic. Now as we reopen, you need all the guidance you can get.

By James Finley July 23, 2021 at 3:52 pm

The Smithsonian museums always operate on their own timeline. Right now, that means reopening throughout the summer. Four museums that have been closed since March 2020 will finally unlock their doors in the next few weeks.

On July 30, fan-favorite National Air and Space Museum, as well as the less exciting Smithsonian Castle, will reopen. They’re followed by the Anacostia Community Museum on August 6, and the Hirshhorn Museum on August 20.

Last but not least, the National Postal Museum will reopen on August 27.

Check out the cheat sheet below. And, just to make things simpler, no more timed tickets! Just walk up like the good old days.

Wear a mask if not vaccinated. Stay six feet apart. Stay home if you’re sick. You know the drill at this point, hopefully.
