These are the Best Day Cares and Preschools in Northern Virginia of 2020

From Alexandria to Prince William County, here’s the need-to-know information on 105 day cares and preschools, all recommended by fellow readers.

By Editorial July 23, 2020 at 4:18 pm

Parents all know the drill. Get up early and then race against the clock to get everyone out the door and off to work and school on time. If you’ve got young children who can’t yet tie their shoes or make their own breakfast, that mad dash gets even harder. But, knowing that you’re dropping your little one off with a trusted caregiver makes the morning scramble just a bit easier. On the following pages, you’ll find 105 day cares and preschools recommended by fellow readers. While some day cares and preschools are still operating on a modified schedule or are not yet reopened during the ongoing pandemic, consider this list your guide to finding just the right safe space for your little learner.

METHODOLOGY

Northern Virginia Magazine ran an online reader poll to determine the 2020 list of Best Day Cares and Preschools. We asked readers with direct knowledge of the day care or preschool who had enrolled a child at the school within the last three years to vote. As part of the poll, we asked readers to share what they love about the school that they voted for—and each reader could only cast one vote. Although some day cares and preschools choose to advertise in the magazine, no one can pay to be included on the list. The listing and advertising sections are separate entities.
