Inova has launched its first-ever comprehensive fundraising campaign, with a goal of raising $500 million by the end of the decade.
The health care system said its “Do. More. Together.” public campaign focuses on four areas: Cancer; Heart and Vascular; Behavioral Health; and Inova’s Greatest Needs. The emergency department renovation in Fairfax, and development projects in the Alexandria, Mount Vernon, and Franconia-Springfield communities are currently the system’s greatest needs.
Money donated would be invested in top talent, leading-edge research, and any specific initiatives Inova has in those four areas.
On its website, Inova lets you choose a donation amount, how frequently you want to donate, and where you want the money to go. All of what you give goes directly to the program you designate.
Inova kicked off the campaign last week with more than 300 donors and business leaders. The health care system said all philanthropic contributions since January 1, 2023, would be part of the effort as the health care system enters its next phase with more than $170 million in contributions.
In 2023 alone, more than 10,000 donors helped over 61,000 people through the Inova Peterson Life with Cancer fund, launched more than 49 clinical trials, and gave mental health assistance to over 26,000 through its Inova Kellar Center, according to its website.
“With this campaign, we are led by our shared vision for how philanthropy can drive care and innovation forward for the patients and families we serve,” said Sage Bolte, chief philanthropy officer and president of the Inova Health Foundation.
Inova credited philanthropists Dwight and Martha Schar, its foundation president Robert G. Hisaoka, and others with setting the stage for its next chapter. The Schars and Hisaoka are among those who are on our 50 Most Influential list.
