A Leesburg man faces charges after a Sunday shooting at the food court at the Dulles Town Center that forced the mall to close.
Alan W. Colie, 31, is charged with aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and discharging a firearm within a building, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to the mall at 11:57 a.m., three minutes after they received the call about the shooting.
They took Colie into custody at 12:02 p.m. They found him on the floor of the food court, with a weapon next to him, according to The Washington Post and other media outlets.
Colie and the victim apparently argued while in the food court. The two do not appear to have known each other, the sheriff’s office said.
The victim, a 21-year-old man, sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Deputies found him outside the mall when they arrived. The Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System transported him to the hospital.
Dulles Town Center plans to reopen Monday, the mall said in a Facebook post.
