Cross your fingers for a breezy day and take your kit to the Leesburg Festival of Crafts & Kites. The free event will be held on Saturday, August 22, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Ida Lee Park. It will include interactive activities, handmade arts and crafts, and plenty of food and drinks.

There will be a children’s entertainer on-site all day, according to Corina Serbanescu, senior business development director for Chic Events DC. In addition to a coloring station, inflatables and moon bounces will be on hand for children ages 2 to 14.
There will be kites on sale for those who don’t have one. Attendees are encouraged to participate in an on-site kite competition.
Serbanescu says to expect plenty of desserts for those with a sweet tooth, including fudge, ice cream, crepes, and funnel cake. For those who prefer a saltier treat, popcorn will be on sale, too.

The festival also includes mores than 70 local artisans and crafters showcasing items like children’s hair accessories, candles, and jewelry.
“The festival is a great opportunity for the Leesburg community to come and support local mom and pop businesses,” Serbanescu says. “It’s the only festival of kites in Leesburg and it’s been going on for nine years now.”
The festival is also pet friendly and will be held rain or shine. 60 Ida Lee Dr., NW, Leesburg, free
