Nearly three months after leaving office, former Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin is hinting that his career in politics isn’t over yet. On the podcast Hang Out With Sean Hannity, Youngkin discussed his upbringing, time as governor, and future goals.
Youngkin said he was not inclined to run again as governor. But when Hannity asked if he had “more to give,” Youngkin replied, “I have more to give. I just do.”
“The one year of campaigning and the four years of running — so five years — went by in five seconds,” Youngkin said. “Every morning I woke up literally bounding out of bed ready to roll. And that was the most purposeful I’ve ever felt in my whole life.”
Youngkin said that since he’s left office, he’s spent time vacationing with his wife, Suzanne. “But six weeks has felt like six years,” he said. “I’m just chomping at the bit.”
When asked about his relationship with President Donald Trump, Youngkin told Hannity that he spoke with the president before leaving office.
Youngkin did not directly address whether he would consider running for president. Instead, he said he believed Vice President JD Vance would make “a great nominee.”
Youngkin did not comment on specific plans for future roles. Instead, he said he’s focused on supporting Republican party candidates. He said his approach has “consistently been focused on 2026 and help everybody to win.”
“I’m going to go back to being the guy who was voted co-captain on his team that was not the leading scorer. The role here is to do what you need to do in order for the team to win,” he said.
