Gov. Glenn Youngkin today announced a new online resource for job seekers, titled Virginia Has Jobs. The site is intended to “further unleash the commonwealth’s economic strength” by connecting the workforce with job opportunities, according to a news release.
Included in the governor’s announcement was a page of resources for federal workers who have been impacted by the Trump administration’s recent efforts to reduce the size of the federal government.
“ ‘Virginia Has Jobs’ is an opportunity for every Virginian — and every business — to capitalize on the thriving economy, with more than 250,000 open jobs waiting to be filled,” Youngkin said.
The site divides Virginia into seven geographic regions. Within those regions, users can find employers, jobs, internships, and training resources in both the public and the private sector.
“We want job seekers across the nation to know what companies like LEGO, Micron, Amazon, Capital One, Liebherr Mining Equipment, and Electro-Mechanical know, opportunity abounds in Virginia” said Virginia’s Secretary of Commerce and Trade Caren Merrick.
Those resources include information on applying for unemployment benefits, job search preparation, and the Virginia Community College System’s resources for getting credentials.
Virginia Works will also host a virtual job fair on Wednesday, March 5, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
