Airlines to Start Nonstop Flights to Alaska and Bermuda, and Hyannis

The flights to Anchorage start in May. Area airports also will have flights to Bermuda and Hyannis, Massachusetts, this year.

United will offer nonstop flights from Dulles International Airport to Alaska in May, and BermudAir will start nonstop flights from Baltimore-Washington International Marshall Airport to Bermuda in March, the airlines recently announced.

The new daily service on United from Dulles to Anchorage starts May 23 and will be on a Boeing 737 MAX 8. Nationwide, United will over 10 daily flights to Alaska, the most it’s had in over a decade.

“Just in time for summer travel planning, we are thrilled to offer additional nonstop flights, including the only nonstop flight from the DC area to Anchorage this summer,” said Henry Bird, United’s managing director of airport operations at Dulles International Airport.

The Alaska flight is one of more than 20 new daily flights coming to IAD this summer. Additional flights will be added to Phoenix, Arizona; Kansas City, Missouri; San Antonio, Texas; and New Orleans, Louisiana.

United also resumes daily nonstop service between Vancouver and Dulles on May 2. The flight, on a Boeing 737 MAX 8, is one of 150 a day nationwide between the U.S. and Canada.

Meanwhile, BermudAir starts nonstop flights from BWI Marshall to Bermuda’s L.F. Wade International Airport on March 18. The flight is the only nonstop option out of the region’s three airports. It’s one of two new flights to Bermuda by the airline. The other is out of Orlando and starts March 26.

“This expansion demonstrates our dedication to meeting our passengers’ needs and strategically enhancing our service offerings, based on continual market feedback and evaluation. It’s a significant step that elevates BermudAir to new levels of service and reach,” said Adam Scott, founder and CEO of BermudAir.

American Airlines plans in April to restart its seasonal service from Washington Reagan National Airport to Bermuda. The flights are a relaunch of service that stopped in 2019.

Starting June 22, for the first time ever, American will offer daily summer service to Hyannis, Massachusetts, from DCA. It will be the only global carrier serving the Massachusetts airport
