5 places to celebrate Pi Day at in Northern Virginia

Pi Day isn’t just for math nerds—it’s for food lovers and socialites, too.

March 14 marks the celebration of the most famous number in mathematics. Pi Day, held annually on March 14 since 3, 1 and 4 are the first three significant digits of pi, isn’t just a holiday for those who love math.

For everyone who would rather do anything else than crunch numbers, Pi Day is an excuse to dig into your favorite pizzas and pies. Here are five Pi Day happenings in Northern Virginia this year.

Pi Day Painting!
March 14, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
Paint your own plate for your slice of pie at Paint Your Own Pottery in Fairfax. For $15, guests will be able to paint a 6-inch coupe or rimmed Italian bisque plate. // Paint Your Own Pottery: 10417 Main St., Fairfax; $15

Pi Day at Mia’s and Pi Day at Lena’s
March 14, 11 a.m.-11 p.m.
Kids eat for just $3.14 on Pi Day at Alexandria Restaurant Partners’ Mia’s Italian Kitchen and Lena’s Wood-Fired Pizza & Tap. Celebrate Pi Day with the DC Ladies of Liberty
March 14, 6-9 p.m.
Throughout history, women have played an important role in scientific and mathematical discoveries. The Ladies of Liberty alliance – DC Chapter will host a celebration of pie, liberty and women’s contributions to the sciences at the Leadership Institute in Arlington. // Leadership Institute: 1101 N. Matchbox Special
March 14, During all opening hours

A Guided Pairing: Pie & Beer
March 14, 7 p.m.
