The throngs of expected Amazon employees may not be here quite yet, but that’s not stopping national entertainment brands from setting up shop in anticipation.
Case in point: Bowlero, a high-end bowling venue, has opened its doors in Crystal City. The newest NoVA location (the chain already has locations in Centreville, Annandale, Woodbridge, Leesburg and Fredericksburg) features 50,000 square feet of entertainment, including, of course, bowling, along with a state-of-the-art arcade with more than 80 games, hi-def video walls that will broadcast everything from live sporting events to classic family films and food and drink that can be enjoyed while bowling or at the venue’s sports bar.
The 32 lanes feature blacklight, lending the experience a fun, space-age feel, and are paired with lounge seating to give your bowling session a night-on-the-town feel.
Designed with a luxury-meets-retro vibe, Bowlero features vintage light fixtures, herringbone-patterned floors and other high-end touches. For gamers also interested in that vintage feel, the arcade includes modern takes on throwback favorites like World’s Largest Pac-Man and Mario Kart GP DX.
Opening in the middle of an ongoing pandemic, the bowling alley has put in place a number of safety protocols for those who want to visit. Each lane is limited to four to six guests and no sharing of bowling balls is permitted. In addition, guests can self-order food and beverage, limiting contact with servers. Staff will wear masks and other appropriate PPE, undergo temperature checks prior to each shift and all areas will be thoroughly sanitized on a regular basis. // 320 S. 23rd St., Arlington
