With limited holiday celebrations this year, it is definitely harder to get in the Halloween spirit. Luckily, some events are implementing social distancing and safety guidelines to continue the festivities. Village at Leesburg will be hosting two pop-up events this month as a way to modify its annual Monster Mash festival.
The first pop-up event will be the Halloween Costume Contest. Starting on Oct. 16, there will be a fall-themed photo backdrop in the Plaza for participants to take their pictures. Contestants can submit their pictures online to enter the bracket-style contest on Village at Leesburg’s Instagram Stories, which will start in November.
Prizes will be awarded to the winners of multiple categories. This includes best pet costume, scariest costume, best TV/movie costume, best duo/group costume and cutest/most glamorous costume. The deadline to submit entries is Oct. 31.
Village at Leesburg will also be hosting a Pumpkin Decorating pop-up. The event will take place on Oct. 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Plaza. The socially distanced event will have decorating tables spread throughout the plaza to ensure proper spacing between participants. Pre-registration will be required as there will be different time slots in order to control the crowds. The event organizers also recommend that those in attendance wear a mask at the event. // Village at Leesburg: 1602 Village Market Blvd. SE, Leesburg
