Coming into the 2020 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) season are 23 World Cup champions, including Washington Spirit standout Rose Lavelle—who scored the game-winning goal in the World Cup final.
This year, Northern Virginians can get the chance to see Lavelle and a handful of those World Cup champions (and Olympic hopefuls) take the field in the commonwealth for the first time at Segra Field in Leesburg, home of Loudoun United FC.
The professional women’s soccer team will split their home games between three DMV locations, including Segra Field, Audi Field in Washington, DC, and the team’s original home, the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Maryland. They are also in the process of moving their training facilities to Leesburg full time for the 2021 season.
The team’s first appearance at Segra Field will be Saturday, May 30, at 7 p.m. against the Orlando Pride.
Below, find this season’s schedule for the local team. (Find NoVA games marked with an asterisk). And come summer, keep an eye out for Rose Lavelle and Lorton-native Andi Sullivan to see if they make the Olympic roster for Tokyo.
