Getting up close and personal with a Tyrannosaurus rex became a bit easier when the National Museum of Natural History opened its long-awaited fossil hall in the summer.
But if your family is looking to step up the Cretaceous-period experience even more in 2020, you’ll want to grab tickets to Jurassic Quest, coming to the Dulles Expo Center from Friday, Jan. 24 to Sunday, Jan. 26, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Perfect for Jurassic Park aficionados, the three-day expo will take attendees through one of America’s largest and most realistic dinosaur events, with true-to-life-size dinosaurs and meet and greets with baby, pre-teen and teen dinosaurs, who are known best for their interactions with guests and potential pranks.
Let the kids take a ride on the back of a 24-foot-tall T-Rex, run through multiple inflatable mazes, head down huge slides and interact with the creatures at the dinosaur petting zoo. Future scientists and paleontologists can dig up fossils, make take-home crafts and see real dinosaur fossils dating back over 60 million years.
The newest exhibit in the traveling expo is focused on marine animals that lived in the late Triassic and early Jurassic periods. Learn about the Ancient Oceans featuring the Ichthyosaurus, Plesiosaurus, Ammonites and more during exhibit discussions and events throughout the day. // Dulles Expo Center: 4320 Chantilly Shopping Center, Chantilly; $22-$36
