It’s almost time to get back on the green for many golfers in the area. As springtime approaches, many Northern Virginians have the sport on their minds. In that spirit, we’ve gathered together seven upcoming golf tournaments in the region. Mark your calendars: a sunshiny day on the links isn’t far away.
St. Paddy’s Social on the Range
March 16, 7-10 p.m.
Held at the new double-decker driving range at Burke Lake Golf Center, this St. Patrick’s Day event will include unlimited range balls, a themed food buffet, soft drinks, music, games, prizes and drawings and one drink ticket per person. // Burke Lake Golf Center: 6915 Ox Road, Fairfax Station; $30
Junior/Parent Tournament
April 27, 8 a.m.-noon
This one’s all in the family: The Junior/Parent Tournament at Burke Lake Golf Course will consist of two age divisions with teams of two players competing in an 18-hole scramble format. The age divisions are 7-12 years old and 13-17 years old, and each team will have one adult and one child. Prizes will be given in both age divisions for first, second and third place teams. // Burke Lake Golf Course: 6915 Ox Road, Fairfax Station; $75 per team
SNVMC Auxiliary Golf Outing
May 2, 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
The Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center Auxiliary is raising money to purchase a Hologic 3D Tomosynthesis (mammogram technology) to support its Sentara Mobile Mammography Van, which offers mammograms through its mobile clinic program to patients who wouldn’t receive care otherwise. Every player will receive free gifts at registration, and there will also be raffle prizes, contest holes, a putting contest, a barbecue lunch and an awards reception. // Old Hickory Golf Club: 11921 Chanceford Drive, Woodbridge; $175
Pink on the Green Charity Golf Tournament
May 17, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
The fourth annual Charity Golf tournament will benefit the Psi Psi Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, its local scholarship program and its community initiatives. Paws of Honor Golf Tournament
May 31, 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
The inaugural Paws of Honor Charity Golf Event will benefit retired military and police canines through the Paws of Honor organization. KFF Scholarship Golf Tournament
June 14, 7 a.m.-4 p.m.
The Kappa Foundation of Fredericksburg’s seventh annual golf tournament supports scholarships, youth programs and social programs in the Fredericksburg area. The tournament will be an 18-hole captain’s choice format with prizes, auctions, raffles and golf skills challenges. Purcellville Lions Charity Golf Tournament
July 1, 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m.
Benefiting the Loudoun County Salvation Army, Tree of Life and the Purcellville Lions Club community programs, this charity golf tournament will be held in a scramble and captain’s choice format. The event’s fees include golf, carts, lunch, dinner, an awards ceremony and raffles and a live auction. // Loudoun Golf & Country Club: 36967 W.
