Five years ago, Tonya Morris started posting her favorite fashion finds, beauty must-haves and discounts to her Instagram page for family and friends alike. While at first it was a hobby, her account has since grown into a full-fledged business where the NoVA resident works on campaigns, branding and more for well-known companies, all of which is published to her blog, as well as her Instagram page @tonyamichelle26—an account followed by nearly 1 million people. When she’s not testing out the latest trends, Morris can be found spending family time with her 1-year-old baby, two pups and husband in their Ashburn space, which they will be moving out of once the Willowsford dream home they’re building together is complete. Here, Morris shares her must-haves for fall and go-to NoVA hot spots.
Must-Haves
“Kimonos, biker shorts and any oversized graphic T-shirt are my three must-buy purchases for early fall. A kimono is a great way to add some color to your outfit. Simply put on a white T-shirt and jean shorts, then add a fun and bright kimono.”
Glow Girl
“I could talk skin care for days—it’s a must. Averr Aglow products are perfect for anyone fighting with acne. It even has this amazing clarifying mist which I use every morning and before bed.”
Falling for You
“My favorite place to spend time outdoors in NoVA is Great Falls. We even got engaged there in 2018.”
About Face
“I get all my facials and skin care needs at NOVA Plastic Surgery—the team has changed my skin! My dark spots and acne scars are gone and they’ve made me feel confident in my skin again.”
Something Sparkly
“For me, jewelry is always my splurge. Sequin NYC is hands down my favorite currently. You can get an amazing handmade piece of jewelry, and it’s a woman-owned business.”
Light it Up
“I love candles. I personally just bought one from a small, Black-owned business, TreatmentCo, and it smells like heaven. I love lighting a good candle at night while reading a book. It’s my me time.”
Tap That
“My husband and I have so many favorite restaurants, but if I had to choose a couple: Sweetwater Tavern, Sense of Thai St. and City Tap House.”
