Maurisa Potts, founder and CEO of Spotted MP and proud Alexandrian, talks bargain hunting, barre benefits, investing in skin care and her favorite local moments.

Grooming
Skincare: Since I’m mid-40s, I have transitioned into investing in my skin. I am really dedicated to La Mer. I know it’s expensive, but a little bit goes a long way.
Hair: Quori Washington at Snips for Hair [Rose Hill] does great work and is very affordable.
Makeup: MAC Waterweight Foundation lasts throughout the day. I tend to be very particular about mascara, but Benefit Roller Lash has been my staple for a while. By Terry concealer makes me look awake when I have only had a couple hours of sleep. I like the feel of Lipstick Queen because it feels like a gloss but looks like a lipstick. I buy my products from Nordstrom, Ulta and Bellacara.

Shopping
Clothing: I love the thrill of the hunt, so I shop at Mint Condition and Current Boutique [Old Town]. I am in dresses 85 percent of the time. As a busy mom, it’s easy to put together a dress and jewelry and not have to think about it.
Jewelry: I am crushing on Loren Hope at Bishop Boutique [Old Town]. I believe in day bling, I like the price point, and it’s good quality.
Favorite Local Moment
I loved being able to pull Old Town and Del Ray into Fashion’s Night Out when it was still active. At the time, I thought we should get some shine on the independent boutiques, and people needed to see those areas as something more than just historical. It drew a lot of new eyes to the area.
Also, planning the premiere of Mercy Street was a major moment. Working with PBS and Visit Alexandria to get the cast here was incredible, and now [the show] has been renewed for a season two.

Fitness
I am a runner, and I also go to Xtend Barre [Old Town] at least three times a week. I have really seen a difference in my body. The instructors are great, it’s high-energy, and every time I go it’s a different workout. My butt is off my thighs—and that says a lot.
IG Inspiration
Jones Point Park underneath the Woodrow Wilson Bridge is tranquil, and you have some great views of Old Town and the National Harbor.
Food
Date Night: Virtue Feed & Grain. My favorite spot is the big table on the second floor. I love the pork barbacoa tacos, which are great because they are gluten-free.
Family Friendly: Los Tios [Del Ray]
