James E. Autry

Over the last 25 years, James E. Autry has garnered a reputation for finding the solution to problems across a range of legal and business issues. Working in real estate law, business transactions and commercial litigation, Autry has fine-tuned internal governance documents and real estate transactions, finding ways to make all the details work and adapt when the unexpected should happen. Autry is also known to work on estate litigation practice. He uses his problem solving capabilities to work with families and businesses to resolve difficult issues that can frequently form the basis of dispute, like when estates are convoluted or contested.

In 2015, Autry was named as a Top Business Lawyer by Northern Virginia Magazine. Through 2010-2012 he was also named among the Legal Elite in Business Law by Virginia Business Magazine. Autry’s peers have also praised his work, giving him a rating of AV at Martindale-Hubble, which signifies very high to preeminent legal skills. In addition to his professional work, Autry served as an adjunct professor at Northern Virginia Community College from 1990-2000, teaching real estate law.
