With new ownership in the restaurant business, changes are almost always inevitable. Such is the case with Nectar Coffee and Wine Bistro in Del Ray, formerly known as Emma’s Espresso and Wine Bar. (Named after 1925’s Emma P. Hume subdivision, the coffee shop, in a former farmhouse, opened in 2015 from mother and daughter Connie and Jackie Desrosiers.)
Though the new ownership has been in place for about three months, the name changed just last week.
The biggest shift in concept is the renewed focus on wine, which also includes closing later (10 p.m.) and offering small plate options like Ruben cheese dip, stuffed mushrooms, tacos and flatbreads. During the day, there’s java from Dillanos Coffee Roasters (Washington state) and a potato-topped waffle. // Nectar: 106 Hume Ave, Alexandria
