Yesterday Rick and Elizabeth Myllenbeck launched an Indiegogo campaign to raise $80,000 for Sonoma Cellar.
This Old Town Alexandria wine bar, focusing on both California and Virginia wines, needs to replace the HVAC system, build a custom kitchen hood and open a terrace garden. The couple is depending on crowdfunding, they write, because: “We cannot get funding any other way. Banks, of all sizes, will not lend us money as we are a new, unproven small business that has not been operational for at least two to five years.”
Donation perks include entrance to a wine-tasting event, dinner for six and membership to the restaurant’s wine club.
