Let’s face it, this has been one of the hottest summers ever in Virginia. Hitting the pool, wearing shorts, blasting your air conditioning — you’re doing everything you can to stay cool. To help you cool down even more, we put together a list of fabulous frozen cocktails, all of which are guaranteed to help you survive the last few weeks of heat. Try one, try all, but do so soon before summer is over!
The Coco-Loco at Trummer’s Restaurant
Until August 31, Trummer’s Restaurant has transformed their bar and lounge into a tiki bar, complete with Polynesian-inspired snacks and drinks, which of course includes frozen cocktails. Try the Coco-Loco, a boozy blend of gin, tequila, and vodka with cachaca (a sweet distilled spirit made of sugarcane) and curacao. Fresh coconut water adds a bit more sweetness and some lightness to the frozen beverage. 7134 Main St., Clifton
The Frozen DC Crush at the Salt Line
The classic orange crush is a popular pick in its non-frozen iteration, and the frozen version is just as good — if not better. Cold and refreshing, The Salt Line’s frozen DC crush has vodka, fizzy orange seltzer, triple sec, and DC Brau beer. The notes of orange scream summertime, and the icy texture is exactly what you have been craving all season. 4040 Wilson Blvd., Arlington
The Frozen Espresso Martini at King Street Oyster Bar
Espresso martinis have been all the rage of late, and now you can even have a frozen one. At all its locations, King Street Oyster Bar is serving up a frozen espresso martini that combines vanilla-infused vodka, espresso liqueur, housemade cold brew, and oat milk. It’s boozy, caffeinated, cold, and even vegan. What could be better? 12 S King St., Leesburg; 1 E. Washington St., Middleburg
The Frozen Margarita at The Liberty Tavern
For fans of a classic margarita, Liberty Tavern has a tried-and-true frozen margarita. The drink features the standard tequila, triple sec, sour, and agave combination, but here the ingredients are blended with ice into a slushy delight. For a fun, fruity twist, you can add strawberry or mango. 3195 Wilson Blvd., Arlington
Frozen Milk Ponche at Ometeo
Mexican milk punch is a popular sweet treat, usually made with milk, rum or brandy, sugar, and cinnamon. At Ometeo, the classic is reinvented as a frozen cocktail where tequila is blended with chocolate, coconut, cinnamon, and cacao. It’s a heady, sweet, spicy delight. 1640 Capital One Dr., Tysons
