Beer enthusiasts know Northern Virginia is a craft beer–lovers paradise, with breweries for every taste, palate, and preference. But NoVA’s breweries are also the perfect place to show Dad some love and appreciation this Father’s Day.
Here are a few options where you can take your Dad (or your honorary Dad) for the big day.
Aslin Beer Company
For a memorable Father’s Day outing with Dad, consider starting at Aslin Beer Company. Known for its eclectic brews and out-of-the-box décor, Aslin has two convenient Northern Virginia locations and three others, including Virginia Beach and DC. On June 15, Asline is hosting its weekly “Saddle Up Saturday,” a nightlong cowboy-themed party in the revamped beer garden in Alexandria. You can buy Dad a Johann Buys a Boat, a double IPA brewed with Citra hops, peaches, and vanilla, or shake things up with El Frutero Watermelon, a sour ale brewed with habanero, watermelon, and lime. 847 S. Pickett St., Alexandria; 767 Elden St., Herndon
Lake Anne Brew House
For a relaxing Father’s Day by the lake, consider Lake Anne Brew House. The award-winning brewery features an ever-rotating shortlist of playfully named beers, and you can fill growlers with your favorites before heading home. Take advantage of the outdoor seating and enjoy the contrast between serene nature and the plaza’s brutalist architecture. 11424 Washington Plz. W., Reston
Commonwealth Brewing Co.
The new kid on the block in Fairfax City offers an interior worthy of an Apple Store, over 30 beers on tap, and housemade pizzas that can be ordered from the QR code at your table. Outdoor seating on Main Street provides a pleasant ambiance for enjoying the brewery’s extensive selection. For enthusiasts of hard-to-find brews, the Aloha Nui Loa, an imperial chocolate stout with toasted coconut and marshmallow, and the Alpengarten, a classic Bavarian Maibock lager, are must-tries. 10426 Main St., Fairfax
Harpers Ferry Brewing
For a brew with a view, make the drive out to Purcellville with Dad to enjoy a picturesque setting overlooking the Potomac River. With over 27 beers on tap, plenty of outdoor seating, and delicious pizzas available, it’s an ideal spot for a relaxing excursion. The brewery is kid- and dog-friendly. 37412 Adventure Center Ln., Purcellville
Loudoun Brewing Co.
A Loudoun County staple located in historic downtown Leesburg, this brewery likes to keep things simple. The taproom features only eight taps, meaning fresh brews are always pouring. Part of the fun in visiting is discovering what’s on tap when you arrive. Grab a chair on the porch, get a pint with Dad, and afterward, go for a stroll around charming Leesburg. 310 E. Market St., Leesburg
Eavesdrop Brewery
At this Prince William County brewery, you can easily spend the day soaking in the vibrant atmosphere. With 21 taps and a giant selection of housemade and guest cans, there’s plenty to explore. The amazing outdoor seating features umbrella tables, outdoor games, and a dog-friendly environment, making it a great place to relax with Dad on the big day. While you are there, grab a bite from Eugene’s Sausage & Fries. 7223 Centreville Rd., Ste. 115, Yorkshire
