Between working at home, home schooling starting again and the generalized anxiety of a global pandemic, we could all use a cocktail. Wouldn’t it be nice if that drink didn’t come from halfway around the world? Better yet, what if it came from your neighbors in NoVA? Fortunately, it’s now easier than ever to get a sip from Colony Cocktails, a company based in Middleburg.
Colony Cocktails is the brainchild of married couple Jessica and Philip Miller. The brand was inspired by a trip to Rome, but the product boasts the eclecticism of their Virginia home. What is it? Imagine wine-based cocktails, packaged in pretty cans, ready for a drink whenever it strikes your fancy.
Each has an ABV of 10% to 11.5%. The three flavors are The Charleston, which is flavored with lemon and lemongrass; The Biarritz, an homage to the French 75 with its bouquet of herbs and lemon; and The Tangier, “inspired by the intrigue of a grand bazaar” with its flavors of rosemary, cardamom and grapefruit.
New stockists include the Department of Beer and Wine in Alexandria, The Brew Shop, Crystal City Wine Shop and Le Cafe Market (all in Arlington), and the Salamander Resort & Spa in Middleburg. They’ll soon be joined by The Wine Cabinet in Reston and Wine Styles in Chantilly.
Still not feeling like leaving the house? Within the year, the Millers plan to add an e-commerce aspect to their business.
