New Bars Open
Park Lane Tavern, a European-inspired tavern, just opened in Arlington and offers a selection of 29 alcoholic taps and over 40 scotches and bourbons, according to general manager Jim Simmons. And opening this month in Alexandria’s Hilltop Village Center is Burtons Grill & Bar, with a 6,200-square-foot interior plus an outdoor patio with a fire table. The bar program will offer 66 types of wine, 12 beer options and 15 housemade cocktails.
Gondolas Across Rosslyn
The Arlington County Board of Supervisors voted to put $35,000 toward a study that would examine linking Georgetown and Rosslyn via gondolas. If plans move forward, the cable transit would help alleviate traffic on the Key Bridge, right now the main thoroughfare, to a popular area that has no Metro access.
Richmond Highway Makeover
A D.C.-based property company just submitted plans for a 340-unit multifamily building on 5.3 acres at Richmond Highway and Fairview Drive. The site is currently occupied by a Wendy’s, Pizza Hut, TitleMax and a martial arts academy. If approved, it will add to the renovations along the corridor near the Huntington Metro station, which recently saw the addition of The Shelby, South Alex, The Grande at Huntington and The Parker at Huntington Station.
