You won’t see Nancy Hulkower on the The Golden Bachelor again. In the show’s fourth episode, the retired interior designer from Alexandria left before the show’s rose ceremony.
The series, a spinoff of the long-running reality dating show The Bachelor, features an older bachelor and contestants who range in age between 60 to 75, vying to be the bachelor’s forever love.
Hulkower, 61, hinted on Instagram ahead of time that the “episode is a smash hit,” but that phrase turned out to have quite a different meaning.
She ended up in a walking boot with a stress fracture in her leg after losing a pickleball contest. The contest determined which two women would be featured in InPickleball magazine with bachelor Gerry Turner, 72.
Nancy Hulkower told the other women in the show that she was “just hanging in” during a cocktail party before the pre-rose ceremony. But after hearing the others gush about how they connected with Turner, she met with him. She told Turner she thought he had narrowed down his choices and that she wasn’t among them. Turner agreed. Hulkower said she understood and wished him well but opted not to stay for the all-important rose ceremony.
The Golden Bachelor airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
