Winner: Elliot in the Morning
For 20 years, Northern Virginians have been bearing their morning commute thanks to the antics of Elliot Segal of Elliot in the Morning. The DC 101 DJ and his co-hosts offer cutting-edge humor that has his listeners laughing all the way to work.
What do you love about living in NoVA?
I just feel comfortable here. My kids go to great schools. We’ve made great friends. Barring traffic on the bridge, I can be into the District for a Caps game, dinner, concert—anything—in 15 minutes.
Favorite place to grab a drink—and what do you order?
It kind of depends on what I’m looking to drink. For beer, Westover Beer Garden and its Golden Voice IPA. For liquor, the bartenders at 2941 are killer. For margaritas, El Tio on Lee Highway. It’s huge. For rum, Tiki TNT has a frozen rum and Coke. For wine, you’d have to ask my wife—or (co-host) Diane.
Favorite place to take out-of-towners?
There is still nothing better than taking out-of-towners to see all the stuff that makes DC so special. Whether it is the Capitol, Lincoln Memorial, Korean War Memorial or walking around The Mall. I’m also a big fan of Roosevelt Island. I’ve been here 20 years and I still love driving by and seeing all of them.

Evening DJ
Winner: Chad Dukes
DJ Chad Dukes, a NoVA native, has been talking sports on 106.7 The Fan for more than a decade now. The fact that he’s able to share his love of the sports teams he grew up with isn’t lost on him. “In radio, it’s extraordinarily rare. I’ve been on the air on this radio station for over a decade,” he says of his unusual longevity in a competitive market. “It’s certainly not what I thought would take place. I thought I’d have to be in Grand Rapids.” Here, he shares where you might find him when he’s not on the air.
Favorite bar to watch a game?
I love Patriots Pub in Fairfax. It’s a dive bar. I would describe it as a living, breathing wax museum. There are a lot of characters in there.
Favorite restaurant for a date night?
Alamo Drafthouse in Ashburn is the best. Even if my wife wants to go see something terrible, I know I’ll have a good time.
You have a free day in NoVA. How would you spend it?
I would probably go shopping at Mobius records in Fairfax. I like target shooting, so I’d go to Elite Shooting Sports. Then play some disc golf at Pohick Bay. I love Old Town Leesburg. There’s a place there called the Downtown Saloon. I love bars where interesting characters hang out.
