Mount Vernon Bike Trail

Take a hike or a bike along this 18-mile paved trail. It runs along some local historical sites, like Mount Vernon Estate, Theodore Roosevelt Island and the Arlington National Cemetery. The trail also goes through Old Town Alexandria—you can take a break to eat or shop on King Street—and Gravelly Point. As you walk along the waterfront path, you will see a breathtaking view of the D.C. skyline. –RD / mountvernon.org
